The beautiful Lake Alaušas, shrouded in legends, is a true gem of the Utena region and the tenth largest lake in the country (area 1,071.8 ha). It is said that a duke loved this large, clear lake so much that, upon his death, he requested his ashes to be scattered in its waters. In honor of these beautiful legends and the area, the ALAUŠAS MARATHON is held on the eve of the Joninės night, where participants can choose from distances: 1km, 5km, 10km, 21.098km, and 42.195km. The event includes running, Nordic walking, and cycling competitions.
